By the age of twenty, most people have heard the wordcan’t more than one hundred thousand times. 100,000 times! Crazy.

Negative self-talk is everywhere, and it sneaks into everyday language:

“Idon’t think I can do that.” “Idon’t suppose you’ve got the Wi-Fi password?” “Don’t forget to put the rubbish out.” “Youcan’t do that on this system.”

Over time, this negative framing becomes internal. The reason many people believe theycan’t do something has very little to do with ability and everything to do with habit.

Small phrases + Constantly repeated = Unconscious conditioning or Habit.

Can’t is not a statement of truth. It is not a measure of capability. It is a description of behaviour shaped by repeated negative self-talk.

“ Can’t" is a lie that pretends to be a fact.

The moment you begin to challenge it, you will notice a shift. Because when you replace negative self-talk with consistent, positive language, you begin to build a stronger belief system. One that supports growth rather than limits it. This works at any age.

You have talents and abilities yet to be discovered. You are capable of far more than your habits suggest.

This Week’s Monday Motivator

“Can do” is my new option. I choose language that reinforces belief, not limitation.

Prompt for the Week

Notice how often you saycan’t out loud or in your head. Each time it appears, pause and replace it withcan do orhow could I?

Observe what changes.
