Someone once said, “Remember, people will judge you by your actions, not your intentions. You may have a heart of gold - but so does a hard-boiled egg.”
Read that again. Maybe twice.
We all have the best of intentions.
I intend to be patient.
I intend to be kind.
I intend to get that job done.
I intend to make the phone call.
I intend not to swear.
But none of those intentions counts for much until I actually do something.
And that’s the bit I’m becoming more interested in.
That little moment between knowing what I should do and actually doing it.
Because I can have the best intentions in the world, but eventually I have to choose.
Make the call or don’t.
Do the work or put it off.
Say the thing or keep my mouth shut.
Swear or don’t swear.
It’s the action that produces the outcome, not the intention.
I’m certainly not suggesting we can do everything we intend to do. I don’t think we could.
But we can pick one thing.
So, what’s one thing you’ve beenmeaning to do?
Do it today.
Your heart might be made of gold, but don’t let it be a hard-boiled egg.
This week’s MondayMotivator:
Good intentions only count when you act on them.
Prompt for the week:
What’s one thing you’ve been meaning to do that you can actually do today?
